When Bad Things Happen to Good People

If our world has ever been messed up, it's especially now, as Covid19 runs rampant through our world. It has turned created a shambles of our lives, our economy, our livelihood, our existence. It has created fear-and sorrow. Our lives will never be quite the same.    

Why do bad things happen to good people? we may cry. It's a tough question, even for those of faith. Some may say, why would God allow this to happen? Others may question if the virus was created as a biological weapon. Another view is that perhaps it is merely a fluke within our environment.    

We've been through pandemics before, but hardly has any impacted our world as this one.  Through the eyes of history, we see events of destruction, natural disasters, plagues, and other diseases. The question of "why" may forever be imprinted on our lips.    

I believe we can all agree on one thing: evil exists in the world. But, at the same time, I think we can all agree that good also exists.   

We question why bad things happen, so why is it that we seldom question why good things happen? Instead of focusing on why bad things happen, perhaps we should focus on the good things that are taking place around us?   

Besides, for those of faith, there is assurance that the One who is the source of all goodness will continue to be in our presence no matter the difficulties that are taking place around us.
