"Look!" a stunned passerby calls out as the formation of F-35's fly across the city in recognition of healthcare personnel. Similarly, in other parts of our nation the essential workers who support our cities and communities are lauded for their strength of character in serving and working through the pandemic.
This extends to others, too, the postal workers, retail employees, food and agricultural workers, mechanics, construction, and other repair personnel are providing necessary service to our communities, as well as childcare providers. We thank them and show our appreciation for what they are doing to serve in a time of need. The essential workers are being called heroes or even superheroes. Society is recognizing these people in a wonderful way. However, the attention lavished is quite humbling, with many saying, "I'm not a hero. I'm just doing my job." A hero has a lot to live up to. They are applauded for what they do. Everyone looks up to them. Their actions are sometimes regarded as miraculous. But, miraculous might not be the right word. There is only One who is truly a miracle maker, the One who has called you by name, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, the Alpha, the Omega, the Great Counselor, the Savior of the World, Lord of heaven and earth. There are some who attain a status of greatness; however, in God's eyes, everyone is created to be great in their own way; to use the gifts they have been given to serve. Looking for a Miracle Man? Look up. Your Savior awaits. All Glory, Laud, and Honor to the Risen King. Miracle Man. Jesus Christ. # "He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes." - Deuteronomy 10:21 Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God." - Luke 18:27 "But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted." - Job 5:8-9

If you want to buy a home, a car, or other large-ticket item, unless you can afford to pay cash, you have to go through an approval process to apply for a loan. The bank wants you to prove your identify, prove that you can pay your bills on time, prove that you are financially responsible and that you are credit worthy.
With a stack of papers requiring verification and signatures on numerous pages, you enter into a legally binding contract stating that you promise to make the required payments according to the rules that are set forth. If you err, you risk breach of contract and subsequent financial penalties. The loan process can definitely be time-consuming and nerve-wracking as you sign your name on the dotted line. As a Christians, I'm glad we don't have to go through a pre-approval or authorization process to earn God's love. We don't have to demonstrate our worth. And, despite wrongdoing, our sins have already been paid for by Jesus' death on the Cross. We are loved--already "pre-approved"--right from the start. # Romans 3:21-24 "Everyone who believes has God's approval through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no difference between people. Because all people have sinned, they have fallen short of God's glory. They receive God's approval freely by an act of his kindness through the price Christ Jesus paid to set us free from sin." |
