When I was twelve years old, I was chased by a bully with a pocket knife at a neighborhood park. My two companions, younger than me, tried to intervene, but they were unable to run fast enough to help. As I ran for my life, I hoped and prayed someone would come to my aid, to fight for me. Fortunately, I was able to ditch the perpetrator.
Ever had moments when you wished there was someone who could fight for you? We all need support, no matter what age we are. Everyone needs a backup system, whether it is our family, friends, co-workers, fellow church members, or others in the community who will gather 'round us in the midst of our personal storms. In other words, we need someone to fight for us, to be on our side, to advocate for us. We find comfort in having help during dark times; however, we may feel alone if help is delayed or not as abundant as we'd hoped. However, there is One who will come to our aid without fail. Numerous verses in the Bible provide this assurance; following are just two of many verses: "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." (Exodus 14:14), and Deuteronomy 20:4, "For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory. " The next time you need someone to fight for you, be reminded that God has your back, and you can talk to Him anytime. He's just a prayer away. #
